I worked eight years as a cultural columnist and book reviewer (Amsterdam), five years as a librarian (Auroville) and later as a translator and web text writer (CV below). I feel confident in producing short texts or phrases and enjoy writing sleek informative copy for simple, elegant websites.

Living quiet for eighteen years, in Auroville, I have studied the
‘I Ching’ and various Indian classics. I welcome assignments on Chinese and Indian culture.

Having studied literature through the writers mentioned in the left and right column, I found my language teacher in the American poet and critic Yvor Winters. I write poetry since coming to India.

My formal engagement with English language and literature has lasted more than 20 years. Developing a passion for the English classics at an Irish mission school, and during my studies in English at Delhi University, I began trying my hand at different styles of creative writing. My doctoral research in Canada, however, gave me the opportunity to practice a more lucid and controlled expression. Writing several drafts of each chapter of my dissertation helped me to distinguish clear writing from bad. Though I enjoy writing poetry myself, my strengths as a writer and editor lie in the field of prose.

With more than 25 published research papers and journalistic articles to my credit, I have five years experience in writing content for websites, brochures, and newsletters, as well as in editing corporate texts. Creating concise and audience-driven capability statements and project proposals are my special area of expertise. My love for reading and writing ranges from literature to travel writing to autobiography. My editorial subject areas include culture and society, organic farming, renewable energy project outlines and technical prose.
